Day One: Arrival in Tbilisi

Welcome to Tbilisi!

The captivating capital of Georgia and a true crossroads between the ancient East and the modern West.

Upon arrival, we will meet you at the airport and gather with our fellow travelers and local hosts. The afternoon is yours to rest, wander, or begin taking in the city at your own pace.

In the evening, we’ll come together for our first shared meal at a renowned restaurant in the heart of the Old Town; an introduction to Georgian cuisine, wine, and hospitality.

Day Two: Explore the Vibrant City

Today we explore Tbilisi more deeply.

We’ll begin with a stop at a favorite local cafe before setting out on foot through the historic heart of the city, crossing the Bridge of Peace and winding through the narrow streets and carved wooden balconies of Old Tbilisi.

We’ll take the gondola up to Narikala Fortress for sweeping views across the city, offering a sense of Tbilisi’s layered history and geography.

The afternoon is open for individual exploration, whether visiting churches, museums, or simply wandering. In the evening, we’ll gather on the balcony of our guesthouse for our first Supra, a traditional Georgian feast filled with food, wine, and toasts.

Day Three: Village on a Lake

We now head to the village!

Today we depart Tbilisi and journey south with our local guide and driver toward the remote village of Poka, set along the quiet shores of Lake Paravani.

This highland region offers a rare stillness. Life here is simple and shaped by the seasons. Poka is known for its monastery and its place in Georgian Christian history, where Saint Nino first crossed into the land in the the year 326 AD. (That’s 1700 years ago!)

In the afternoon, we visit Khertvisi Fortress, a dramatic stone citadel dating back to the second century BC, standing watch over the surrounding valleys for centuries.

We settle into the rhythm of the region before the evening, allowing space for rest, reflection, and the deep quiet of the highlands.

Day Four: Ancient Cave City

Today we journey to Vardzia:

An extraordinary cave monastery carved directly into the cliffside during the reign of Queen ("King") Tamar during Georgia's Golden Age in the 12th century AD. Once a refuge during periods of invasion, this vast complex reveals a hidden world of chapels, passageways, and living quarters etched into the stone.

In the afternoon, we visit a traditional Georgian home for a hands-on cooking lesson, learning regional dishes prepared with local ingredients.

The day concludes with our second Supra, a generous Meskhetian feast, celebrating the flavors, wine, and hospitality of the region.

Day Five: Rabati Castle and a Village Supra

We wake within the walls of Rabati Castle.

Welcome to Akhaltsikhe, an historic mountain town near the Turkish border whose name means “New Castle.”

The morning unfolds at a relaxed pace, beginning with a visit to a local bakery before exploring the layered architecture and history of Rabati Castle, a crossroads of cultures shaped by centuries of trade and conflict. If time and inclination allow, we may also visit Sapara Monastery, tucked quietly into the forested hills above the city.

In the evening, we travel to the village of Ude for a memorable Supra hosted by one of the region’s leading ethnographers and historians. Expect an abundant table, traditional dishes, and spontaneous Georgian folk songs shared late into the night.

Day Six: Traditional Winery Tour

Today is dedicated to wine and the landscapes that shape it.

We begin with a stop in Borjomi, the alpine town known for its crisp mountain air and famed mineral springs. There will be time to walk, sample the spring water, and pick up small gifts or local specialties.

From Borjomi, we continue to the village of Tsedisi for a visit to a family-run winery. Here we’ll learn about Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions, including the qvevri method, and enjoy a guided tasting of wines rooted deeply in the land and its history.

The afternoon unfolds at an easy pace, allowing time to enjoy the countryside before returning for rest and reflection.

Day Seven: The Spiritual Heart of Georgia

Today we journey to Mtskheta:

One of the oldest towns in Georgia and its spiritual heart.

We’ll visit Jvari Church, a sixth-century masterpiece set high above the confluence of the rivers, offering both architectural beauty and sweeping views. From there, we continue to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a sacred pilgrimage site and house the robe of Christ.

In the evening, we gather for dinner at a lively, open-air restaurant just outside Mtskheta, a relaxed setting to enjoy traditional dishes and reflect on the journey thus far.

Day Eight: Sulphur Baths & Tbilisi Night Life

We return to explore the creative and cultural life of Tbilisi.

Long a meeting point of empires and ideas, Tbilisi is alive with artists, musicians, writers, and designers, its energy felt in galleries, cafes, jazz clubs and quiet courtyards.

The day unfolds at your own pace, with time to visit museums, wander neighborhoods, or settle into a cafe and watch the city move. We’ll share a thoughtfully curated list of our favorite spots to help guide your own exploration.

In the afternoon, we gather at the historic sulphur baths of Abanotubani, a restorative ritual and a chance to unwind and reflect after days of adventure across the country, before coming together for one more enchanting dinner in the city.

Day Nine: Cafes and Farewells

The sweet sadness of departure!

The morning is yours for a final walk through the city, a visit to a favorite cafe, or time to choose a few thoughtful gifts to bring home.

We’ll arrange transfers to the airport and see you off with full hearts, carrying new friendships, unforgettable experiences, and stories shaped by this journey.

Nakhvamdis. (Goodbye!)
